The film is produced by California-based MacGillivray Freeman Films, Inc.
This worldwide renowned company has developed more than 30 large format films among them the highest-grossing documentary film ever (Everest, 1998) and two Oscar-nominated documentaries
(The Living Sea, 1995; Dolphins, 2000).
The production started in autumn 2005 and was completed in summer 2006. The film premiered on March 7, 2007 at the IMAX theatre of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C. The film will be distributed worldwide.
The film partners Holcim and Switzerland Tourism are promoting the film worldwide.
